Mt. Nebo...

Mt. Nebo is an adaptation of an old oil painting of Juab Valley, Utah, in the late 1800s. It is done on 12-point cotton interweave. A variety of impressionistic stitches as well as fibers are used to emphasize the different elements of the picture. I researched numerous stitches and incorporated ones never used before in needlepoint. Overall the work is very fine and detailed.  The 12-poiint canvas was split to make the detail on the small cabin and smoke trails very fine, and to draw attention to a little noticed element of the painting: that of a small community developing in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains.
The tapestry took five years to complete. The original painting, although more than one hundred years old, had never been cleaned and I chose to emphasize and lighten the foreground so that the richness of the scene was not lost in any part of the view.

Size, including the frame is 51.5" x 23.75". The price, including frame and shipping is..........................$60,000.00
