The Welcome quiilt won me Stitcher of the Year in 1995 for 'Better Homes and Garden's' Cross-Stitch and Country Craft magazine. It was also a finalist in Good Housekeeping's '$10,000 Quilt Contest.' I based it on a charted cross-stitch design from that publication, adapting it using 1" hexagons instead of squares. It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted. All layers are 100% cotton. I also used impressionistic stitches for each of the different parts of the quilt, making the back quite interesting as well.
