Personal...
During the early years of my working career I did commercial photography and worked in advertising doing art direction, copy writing, product design, packaging, magazine art direction and production, and the hundreds of other little things that make up commercial graphic arts. This focus developed my view on how I photograph things. I generally concentrate on one subject and try to keep its presentation simple and uncluttered. Now, in my personal photography, I try to photograph common subjects from a point of view that allows you to pause and look at it without distraction. All of the photographs have a title (simple as they may be) to make navigation easier rather than downloading a lot of thumbnails. None of the photos have any technical explanation regarding exposure, film, or anything else.

When I was ten years old I started taking photographs with a real camera; that is, one that had aperture and shutter adjustments. Before that I used a Brownie. Ten years later I set up my first darkroom and I've been enjoying photography ever since. My darkroom is set up for both color and black-and-white. For the pictures on this web site I scan directly into the computer with a Microtek ArtixScan 1800f scanner. As far as film goes my standard films are 400 Tmax, 100 Tmax, and Tri-X developed in Xtol. However, I've been experimenting with Ilford Orth Delux in 4" x 5". Grapes and Peri's Doll are examples.
